Helping homeless youth in the UK
Poverty doesn’t just happen overseas, it’s right here on our doorstep in the UK and numbers are rising. Brand new analysis from Shelter reveals that record numbers of people are now recorded as homeless.
According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, millions of people are living in poverty in the UK and at the worst end of the spectrum, this can lead to homelessness and rough sleeping. No one should be without a home. According the charity Shelter, 280,000 people are living on our streets in 2020 and many of them are young and vulnerable.
Charity starts at home, and there are lots of charities making a great effort in the UK to ensure that everyone has the right to a safe night’s sleep, a hot meal, and dignified clean washing facilities.
At a time when out of necessity we are all washing our hands under hot running water, it’s easy to forget that for those living on the streets, that’s a luxury they can’t always access. That’s why at ChooseWell, we’re proudly partnering with key social change charities that help give our most vulnerable the basic right to a safe place to sleep, a hot meal and hot running water.
According to Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, there are 121,000 16–24-year-old homeless people that need help.. The organisation supports more than 14,000 homeless young people each year by providing accommodation, mental health support and life skills to get vulnerable young people back into education, training and employment. A room sponsorship could provide a young person arriving at Centrepoint with a safe and warm place to stay. £12 a month sponsors a room to help a young person off the streets and into a safe place so they can begin to turn their life around
ChooseWell donates money from the sale of it's range of liquid hand washes to UK-based charities to help support young homeless people to turn their lives around.
